Sound the Alarm on Fire Safety!
According to the National Fire Prevention Association, a US fire department responded to a fire every 24 seconds. One home fire was reported every 90 seconds. An average of 7,100 home structure fires per year caused by playing with fire were reported between 2007 and 2011. Forty-three percent of the fires were started by a child under age 6. Sixty-three percent of those who die in fires started by children are children age five and under. Children under 5 are at higher risk for death in fires, which is why it is crucial to talk to them about fire safety in the home.
Why all the facts, you ask? A child who is coached properly ahead of time will have a better chance to be safe and we can help! Boulder Blimp has worked with fire departments across the US and Canada to provide an interactive and, most of all, FUN fire safety learning experience with our inflatable fire safety houses. The benefits of adding one to your arsenal of educational tools seem obvious but you might need a refresher. Here, let me break it down for you:
- Portablility: It’s inflatable! Take it out of the bag, turn on the blower and set up is as quick as 20-30 minutes. When you take into consideration that the traditional fire safety house is a trailer that needs to be hooked to a hitch and hauled, the choice is simple.
- Cost: Remember that trailer type fire safety house I was telling you about? It costs about $75,000. Compare that to our price of about $7,000. Add in the convenience that you could share the inflatable fire safety house amongst departments by simply switching out banners and there you have it! Budget issues? What budget issues?
- Logistics: No matter where your event is being held, you will be able to get it there with ease. One of our Canadian client’s provinces is so large they helicopter their inflatable fire safety house to whichever fire department is in need of it. Can’t do that with a trailer!
- Maintenance: You won’t have a lot of upkeep to do on your inflatable. If it gets dirty, just wipe down with a little 409. Easy peasy.
- Smoke House Option: You’re probably wondering what the heck I’m talking about but it’s quite literal. You can take your inflatable fire safety house to the next level by adding a smoke machine to add more realism to your demonstration! The clear “windows” on the “roof” can be used to ventilate the smoke.
- Hard Flooring: Make no mistake, the inflatable fire safety house is a fun tool but it is still an educational tool. Therefore, although it looks like a bouncy house, the focus reamins on important fire facts and activities. The kids won’t mind though because the landing pad adds a nice dose of exhilaration at the end!

If you’re still on the fence, listen to this. Very recently, on Feb 3, 2018 in San Diego, a seven-year-old girl named Alexandria Cox was the first to detect a fire in her home and made sure her family got out. A family friend said Alex knew how to respond because firefighters had recently visited her school to teach fire safety. Need I say more? Don’t take my word for it though, Google it!
